astro decoder problem; cannot power up

ADVAnCED MEmBER Posts: 377 Group: AOCM Member #13 Joined: January 16, 2006	hi all, need advice. my astro decoder recently KO'ed. even when connected, no power. the clock doesn't show. need advice as to where i can send the decoder for repair. if cannot repair, how much is a new one? thanks

RM199 for registration, installation. but, everymonth they will charges extra RM50+ or RM60+ for the max decorder until 12 month. btw, the normal asto going down to RM80. coz they want to promote astro max. termination can do withi 2 hours, and register new account will take 24 hours ;)

You can schedule the recording daily, weekly, once and ??? on all your subscribed package. If I am not mistaken, total recording time is not more than 60hours. My favorite “tools” from AstroMax is to let the recorder to pre-record 20 ~ 30 minutes of an hour episode before playback from start. This allow me to skip all the advertisements, so 1 hour episode after skip all the advertisement and preview, it is ~40 minutes valuable content. It is a very nice recorder to record educational program for myself like Discovery(50 & 53), National Geography (5?), Discover realtime (78), my wife (Discovery Travel, WLT etc – Cooking & Travel) , my son (Barney, [Tom & Jerry] , ????). The recorded AV quality as good as normal watch, other languages and subtitle is also recorded and can be turn on as and when you like. Currently the software is not that stable, and hang from time to time (e.g. Once a day or more), some time slow in respond to remote control press. But things will improve slowly when new software is available to the recorder.

My friend gave me his decoder since he had disconnected astro. His decoder also about 10 years like mine. I only manage to use his decoder for a month....and then....same thing...went off dead. So it means the lifespan is around 10 years probably. Luckily there was an offer last year which they gave free decoder for new subscriber with installation fees Rm50. I took it coz kids cant go without cartoons. :D
