Just me
Jaycee... great to hear u finally overcome ur confort zone n get over with it heading to a new challenge.

go for it while u can, while u r young, while u hv luxury of energies/motivation to do that... or else, u will be living in comfort and will be much difficult to leave then.

watever in front, dun look back... move forward and best of luck to you.

definitely u will miss ur good boss... but wish that u bring on the kind ethic of ur boss as guidance for u towards ur subordinates. 'pay it forward'. :thumbup

hi all,

just some updates...

have already started in new company. new year, new job :thumbup

i still haven't got my PC yet, so it was pretty boring... imagine working in IT line with a PC. all the company's documentation are softcopies on the network, so i couldn't do anything. spent first few days reading motivational books :sweat

i got a temporary laptop, first thing i did was to surf to AOCM. for some strange reasons, i couldn't log in. most probably the proxy is blocking everything :( gonna get my laptop next monday, will try to spend some time to figure out their network setup :lol

first impression is that the company very strict and organized since it's a pretty huge company, compared to my previous. now i'm in end-user environment, instead of vendor environment.

anyhow, i didn't burn all my bridges... i left in very good terms with all the managers. i may need their help in the future :P

anyway, thanks for all your advice and encouragements.

:tqvm

bro jaycee
sure am glad to know that you are fitting well with your new job. BTW being the end-user is much better than vendor. Had experience in both environment.
So from next week onwards .... your new job will be going full swing. Savour every free moment you have now :)-

hi everybody...

just to update y'all...

in feb'07 i joined the new company, the new department that i was supposed to lead didn't materialized, even after lots of discussions with the senior management, nobody wanted me or had the budget for me... :angry2 basically the whole project (which my dept was supposed to handle) was going down the drains. even then, they didn't actively pursue for my involvement into the project to try to salvage it, i was left out of everything.

so i actually spent couple of months doing nothing (really NOTHING!), so it was like a fully paid holiday... my main grouse was that i couldn't log into aocm from the office, if not, my total post count would've been higher :P

fortunately for me, when i left my ex-company, i left with very good terms, so after chatting with my ex-boss, who (thankfully) was very happy to take me back, i'm now back in my ex-company. monetary wise, i guess it's not as good, but it's still better than when i left.

since returning, i have been swamped with multiple projects... it feels good to be productive, after spending couple of months being a 'kaki-lepak' in the office (not by choice)

anyway, throughout this ordeal, personally i have gained more insights into what i want to achieve in my career and also what i'm good at and what i'm not good at (dislike). got some exposure into office politics too, which i really hate and find it counter productive.

all-in-all, this has been a positive experience for me, eventhough things didn't turn out as expected.

again, thanks all for your advice/tips/comments...

cheers!

Welcome back bro Jaycee....

Its good to know you are back in good shoes, though old, but comfortable ones :thumbup :thumbup :thumbup

Anyway, the "grass always seems greener on the other end", but not many can reap the same good pasture. Glad you've found that out after some trial and errors.

I always tell this to my subordinates and encourage them to take the challenge, but to also secure a 'loop-back policy'..... never be nasty with your ex-boss. You just wouldn't know when you need them back :B :B :B

i can't agree with u more. i know of one ex-colleague that was considering returning. the technical manager was keen to re-employ him but the HR was outright rejecting because he didn't really leave with a good impression. heard that he made some bad remarks about the company.
